What can we expect from OnePlus in 2023?

OnePlus has solidified its place as a well-renowned contender on the smartphone scene, and 2023 will be marking OnePlus’ 10th anniversary since they were founded BY Carl Pei all the way back in 2013. In the last two years, OnePlus has bought us an abundance of exciting features, including blitzing fast 120W charging speeds, a plethora of exciting new colours and, of course, a new low-range Nord CE 2 Lite to broaden the roster. So, with all these exciting changes in the last two years, it really does raise the question as to what OnePlus could possibly bring us in 2023 to top it. Quite frankly, OnePlus has a lot up its sleeve for 2023, including new handset range toppers as well as a few welcomed feature upgrades for both low, mid and flagship ranges.

New Flagship
A new flagship for 2023 from OnePlus is certain and is more than likely going to be named the OnePlus 11 Pro, following on from this year’s OnePlus 10 Pro. The OnePlus 10 Pro itself brought a few welcomed upgrades from its 2021 predecessor, the OnePlus 9 Pro, including but certainly not limited to Gorilla Glass Victus, Android 12 and 80W fast charging. Next year we can anticipate that design-wise, the OnePlus 11 Pro will adopt a similar front-end 6.7-inch display with the same AMOLED screen technology seen on this year’s flagship. The main design changes we’re expecting to see on the OnePlus 11 Pro are on the rear end of the device. Last year’s OnePlus 10 Pro took an interesting approach to its rear camera housing that many compared to either the Samsung S21 or a hob – yes, the pesto pasta fry kind of hob. Whilst this was a step in the wrong direction in the eyes of many over the OnePlus 9 Pro, next year, we can anticipate OnePlus to adopt a curved design ethic to rear elements rather than the traditional squared. Moving on from the design and onto the internals and the OnePlus 11 Pro is likely to house a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, which will be the latest and greatest smartphone processor out, and we’re likely to see it also used on upcoming Samsung and Sony flagships. We don’t expect too much change in the camera department besides an upgraded 32MP Telephoto lens; however, the real change will be in the battery. We’re optimistic towards a 5000mAh battery with 150W fast charging that featured on the interim OnePlus 10T showcased earlier this year in Summer.

New Devices
Aside from a new flagship OnePlus still has a lot more to bring to the table in 2023 with its low and mid-range offerings. Some of these are expected to include the OnePlus Nord 3, OnePlus CE 3 & CE 3 Lite and, interestingly enough, a OnePlus Tablet. The OnePlus Nord 3 is set to be OnePlus’ next mid-range wonder, with it succeeding on last year’s OnePlus Nord 2 and this year’s interim device- the OnePlus Nord 2t. On this, we’re likely to see a slightly refined take on the design; however, it’s unlikely that it will be a complete refresh. What is likely is that the OnePlus Nord 3 will bring forward additional camera modes, a longer-lasting battery, a faster processor and, of course, a different colour selection. We don’t anticipate too much change with the OnePlus CE 3 and CE 3 Lite aside from the regular software upgrades, but if there’s one thing we’d love to see, that’s OnePlus bringing super-fast charging to all of their models, including their base models. Whilst nothing is set in stone for the OnePlus’ tablet, what we do know is that there has been an abundance of tech leaks, all pointing towards a similar 12.4-inch OLED display, a Snapdragon 865 and 6GB of RAM.

Needless to say, OnePlus will bring us much to look forward to in 2023. Be sure to let us know what your thoughts on our predictions for next year are and, of course, what you yourselves would like to see from OnePlus next year in the discussion section below.
