C247 | PAC Codes

A PAC code, also known as a ‘Porting Authorisation Code’ – a nine-digit code that allows you to migrate your phone number from one Mobile network to another mobile network so that if you’ve found a new amazing SIM-only deal from C247.com which is on another network you can make the swap without having to leave behind your old number and all your contacts with it.

Once you’ve got your PAC code you simply give it to the network you’re moving to (generally by filling in an online form) and they handle the rest – communicating the move with your old network and getting your number transferred, often by the next working day.

Gaining your PAC code is easy and is the same process on all four networks. Simply text ‘PAC’ to 65075 and you’ll receive a message within a minute with your PAC code alongside information regarding your current data agreement and a link to the relevant department to terminate your SIM agreement (if one is in place). However, while the overall process remains the same, different MVNO’s (Mobile Virtual Network Operators) may have extra steps involved between the process such as verification using your date of birth or a security question.

Alternative to this, you can also request your PAC code online through the network’s website usually through either a ‘take my number with me’ prompt like Three’s process or within your account settings such as Vodaphone’s retrieval process.

When requesting your PAC code, you need to be aware that the code only lasts for 30 days, after which you’ll have to request another if you still haven’t given it to your new network by this time.
